I’M WOMAN Trial to start recruitment

The I’M WOMAN team

After a lot of hard work behind the scenes, we are thrilled to announce that the I’M WOMAN Trial will start recruitment imminently.

Trial materials are on route to study sites around the world where dedicated research teams are getting ready to begin enrolling women. The trial is part of the TRANSFORM project, funded by Unitaid.

It will assess the effects of tranexamic acid (TXA) by the intramuscular and intravenous routes for the prevention of postpartum haemorrhage in women having a vaginal or caesarean section birth.

Finding alternative routes of TXA administration is a research priority in the 2023 WHO PPH Roadmap. If TXA could be given intramuscularly, this would expand access to timely TXA treatment and save women’s lives.
