Prevent, detect and treat anaemia for safer childbirth

Worldwide, half a billion women are anaemic. This video shows how anaemia affects the blood, causing it to clot less and flow faster, which can increase the risk of excessive bleeding after childbirth, or postpartum haemorrhage (PPH).

The WOMAN-2 Trial is assessing the use of TXA for the prevention of postpartum haemorrhage in women with severe and moderate anaemia.

Evidence from the trial shows that anaemia is a strong contributing factor to severe bleeding in childbirth.
